Lara is a graduate of the Professional Dog Training program, a supporting member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers, and is Pet First Aid and CPR certified.
Lara teaches group classes and private lessons and has helped hundreds of clients learn to better communicate with their dogs and develop their skills and enthusiasm for training.
If her teaching style seems somewhat calculated, it may be due to her previous career as an accountant and financial analyst #accountinghumor (It’s a thing. Seriously.) After leaving that career behind, Lara worked as a handler and team leader in dog daycare. This gave her exposure to over 100 dogs on a daily basis to learn about dog-dog and dog-human interactions. She’s volunteered for rescue organizations in her home town of Sydney, Australia and here in NYC to provide enrichment activities and foster care for dogs, cats, rabbits and birds. She continues to provide foster care for rescue dogs in need of training to improve their prospects of successful adoption.
Lara is an AKC CGC Evaluator, and may administer the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy program, CGC, AKC Community Canine (the advanced level of CGC), Urban CGC, Video Home Manners and Trick Dog tests.
