Katrina Krings

Katrina has been with our team for 20 years. She has a wealth of dog experience and knowledge, and works with nearly 100 dogs and puppies per week!

Katrina teaches a variety of group classes including: Puppy Class Part 1, Puppy Class Part 2, Adolescent and Adult Obedience, Small Dog Obedience, Intermediate Obedience, Intro to Agility, Agility Part 2, and Puppy Agility and Enrichment. She also teaches private lessons, addressing everything from basic manners to fear and aggression issues. She embraces a philosophy of behavior modification using positive reinforcement and management.

Katrina has a special passion for helping homeless animals and served as the Director of Behavior and Training at Animal Haven Shelter for six years. Here she designed the enrichment program, providing the animals with species-specific activities to reduce stress in the shelter environment. She is also the creator of a first of its kind, dog-focused after school program for children and elementary school children.

As an honors graduate with a degree in Psychology from Long Island University, her studies focused on animal behavior and included conducting an international independent study on stray dogs while in Thailand, India, and Romania.

Katrina spent 10 years training and competing in competitive agility (including the Masters Agility Championship at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show) with her rescue dogs; Stella, a 5 pound Brussels Griffon and Maeby, a 35 pound Super Mutt.

She grew up sharing her home and her heart with all sorts of animals including: dogs of all sizes, cats, horses, guinea pigs, rodents and amphibians. Katrina lives with her husband and their active 10-year-old dog, Maeby in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Their favorite activities include going for hikes and watching movies as a family.
